The harvest at Fattoria del Teso takes place entirely by hand between mid-August and early October
The vineyards of Fattoria del Teso now cover about 15 hectars and are located at about 70 meters over the sea level. The rows of vines are exposed to north/west and south/east. The grapes varieties which are cultivated are mainly, for white wines, Vermentino, Trebbiano Toscano, and Verdea (for the indigenous grape varieties); and Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc (for the international grape varieties). For red wines Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Colorino, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our vineyards have an average age of 20 years.
The harvest is carried oud exclusively by hand-picking the grapes from the middle of August to the beginning of October. The harvest begins with the white grapes by picking the white international grape varieties and ends with the Trebbiano at the end of September. When picking the Trebbiano grapes the selection of the best grapes used for the Vinsanto is also carried out. At the beginning of September the red grapes are picked starting from Syrah and Merlot followed by Colorino, Ciliegiolo and Sangiovese and ending with Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
